Duration: 1 day (upgrade VHF radio course available if converting or upgrading from the 'old' VHF Restricted Certificate of Competence VHF Licence) or On Line with Sea Voice Training followed by Blue Oyster Classroom Assessment.
The VHF Radio course is essential for everyone! A VHF Radio is an essential item of safety kit and thus taking a VHF course to ensure that you know how to use it is key.
It is somewhat ironic that to helm a high powered powerboat or yacht you don't need any form of licence or qualification, yet to use its VHF radio you need a licence for the set and to sit an exam to gain your Radio Operators Certificate/Licence.
This is a one day course and simply tends to be known as the VHF Course. The VHF SRC course/exam leads to the new Short Range Certificate (SRC) and covers the new Global Maritime Distress and Safety System.
You will be able to use our on board Yacht equipment during the day and our training radios are available to all students in our modern class rooms.
Please bring a passport sized photograph with you, the licence is valid for life and with it you will be able to register your on board radio equipment and obtain an MMSI registration number.
The RYA SRC VHF On Line Course is now available through RYA Interactive.
The course can be taken on line now but the Assessment must be taken at the Training Centre. We have facilities in Barcelona Palamos at Club Nautic Costa Brava Marina. You may study fully on line with Sea Voice Training prior to taking the Assessment with our Blue Oyster SRC VHF Examiner.
You can view a short video here which previews the On Line Course. Contact us in the first instance if you either want to book just an Assessment, or you want the more traditional 1 Day Course followed by Assessment.
